1/21/22 - IMPORTANT: Remote Learning Only Next Week

Dear Charter College and Career Prep Families,

Thank you for your patience as we worked though staffing shortages this week. Due to a continued staffing shortage, we will be on a remote learning schedule next week: Monday 1/24/2022 – Thursday 1/27/2022. School is still in session, but students will be working from home. Teachers who are available will be contacting students throughout the week for assistance. The health and safety of our school community is a top priority. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me.

Sincerely,

Maria Osborne, Principal

1/18/22 - Testing Kit Availability and New CDPH Guidelines For Students

Dear Charter College and Career Prep Families,
We know the ongoing COVID conditions continue to impact you and your families on a daily basis. We feel the same impact and will continue to work alongside you to support student needs.

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) recently revised the guidelines for isolation and quarantine for students. Below are the important new guidelines we will be following in accordance with CDPH recommendations.

Testing Kits Now Available for Home Use

In an effort to reduce COVID-19 transmission in schools as the Omicron variant surges nationwide, the California Department of Public Health is making at-home COVID-19 testing kits available for free to local families. CCP has received antigen tests that will be available for pick up and voluntary use as an added precaution.

Each student can receive one test kit box; there are two tests per box.

There is no cost to families. The tests have been purchased by the California Department of Public Health with funds provided by the federal government to support testing in schools.

How to pick up your free COVID-19 testing kit...
A Parent or Guardian may come to the Charter College and Career Prep Main Office and a staff member will distribute one test kit per student.

While COVID-19 tests are not mandatory for students, we encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity for a little extra peace of mind as we navigate this stage of the pandemic. Moreover, the steps we take together can help ensure the safest possible learning environment for all of our students.

New CDPH Guidelines for students
Any student testing positive for COVID-19

  • Stay Home for at least 5 days.
  • Isolation can end after day 5 and the student may return to school if symptoms are not present or are resolving and a diagnostic specimen* collected on day 5 or later tests negative.
  • If unable to test or choosing not to test, and symptoms are not present or are resolving, isolation can end after day 10.
  • If fever is present, isolation should be continued until fever resolves.
  • If symptoms, other than fever, are not resolving continue to isolate until symptoms are resolving or until after day 10.
  • Wear a well-fitting mask around others for a total of 10 days, especially in indoor settings (see Section below on masking for additional information)

*Antigen test preferred.

Any Student who is exposed to someone with COVID-19
School exposure (close contact) still consists of 15 minutes or more within six feet of the COVID positive person while wearing a mask.

  • Stay Home for at least 5 days, after your last contact with a person who has COVID-19.
  • Test on day 5.
  • Quarantine can end after day 5 and student may return to school if symptoms are not present and a diagnostic specimen collected on day 5 or later tests negative.
  • If unable to test or choosing not to test, and symptoms are not present, quarantine can end after day 10.
  • Wear a well-fitting mask around others for a total of 10 days, especially in indoor settings.
  • If testing positive, follow isolation recommendations above.
  • If symptoms develop, test and stay home.

We are following a similar process with staff members which may cause an acute staff shortage. We will make every effort to have all programs fully staffed and will notify families of any school or program closures due to staffing shortages at the earliest possible time.

Thank you for your continued support, cooperation, and understanding.
